We will be taking a winter break from July 6-19 (NSW school hols). You can still place orders now, and also while we are on break. If we receive but don't finish testing your samples they will be first in line when we re-open.

Primary lens luxation (PLL)

Summary

Primary lens luxation (PLL) is the displacement of the lens within the eye, thought to be due to the damage or loss of the fibres that link the lens to the surrounding muscle. Can be very uncomfortable and may cause loss of vision.

Testing for PLL can identify whether your dog is at risk for this disorder. It can also inform breeders whether their dog could potentially produce pups that would be affected by PLL.

This gene is commonly found in many terrier breeds as well as Australian Cattle Dogs. It's also found in diverse other breeds including collies and Koolies, and some of the Chinese breeds including Chinese Crested and Shar Pei.

Dogs with two copies of the ADAMTS17 allele linked to PLL are at the highest risk of developing this disorder.
